Princess Maya
Basic Information
Name: Princess Maya
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance:
Maya is about the right height for a girl her age (read: short). She stands at only about 5' even though there is a chance that she'll grow taller, provided there's a chance that she's able to live that long. Despite being a royal, she is in excellent shape--'hard work' is a word that is not unfamiliar to Maya. How can she be excepted to take care of a kingdom if she cannot even take care of her own body? At least, that's he approach to things.
Athletic build aside, its still quick evident that manual labor isn't something that she's familiar with or rather, it isn't something that's been part of her life. She lacks callouses, for one thing. She is fair skinned, free of scar and blemish. Her eyes are the color of red wine, a family trait as it were, and her hair is on the redder side of strawberry blonde. Her hair is short, though long enough for bangs to cover her forehead.
She has a soft, round face, though with each year her aristocratic features become slowly more apparent. The fact that she puts off the image of being 'cute' makes her seem rather harmless, something that she hates.
She wears a white blouse with an upturned collar and over that a blue and white top with black accents. She wears black and blue gloves. Black leggings cover her legs, and she wears blue and white boots. She completes the outfit with a blue and white hat that has metal tassels on either end.
Personality
Personality:
Maya is a bit of an 'old soul' in the sense that she's, for the most part, incredibly mature for her age. Even before she became the heir to her kingdom's throne, she acted with a self-possessed air that's rarely seen in even some of her seniors. Calm, cool, collected, and calculating are all words that would accurately describe Maya. Command seems to come easy to her. She puts her duty as a princess before her own interests.
At least, she's able to put forth the image of being cool under pressure. There are times when she's unsure of what to do. The thing is, Maya is a planner--its something she's good at, however if something completely blindsides her then she needs a moment to reevaluate her options. If she's not careful she might let her insecurities get the best of her in that moment.
That's right, you read the word 'insecurity'. Maya is a princess, heir to her kingdom, and a more talented magician than her elder sister, even without the age of her relic, and yet she has insecurities. She's watched her older sister go through life, brash, loud, and unapologetic and always viewed her way of life with a certain kind of disdain and yet at the same time her sister seemed to have an unassailable confidence, something that Maya found that she couldn't understand, but something that she secretly wanted. With that being said, Maya does posses a certain kind of stubbornness, something that she shares with her sister. She will not give up. She has an iron will, its just something that is a part of her, nothing that she puts any thought into.
Maya is polite, regal, and intelligent, all things that a princess ought to be. It's not often, if ever, that one will find her behaving any less. She has a good memory for details and is also good at "looking underneath the underneath". That's not say that she can't be caught off guard (as indicated earlier) nor is it to say that she isn't above it all in terms of violence. It'll take a lot and/or dire circumstances (or her older sister Mint), but Maya won't shy from a fight if she has to take part in it. Mind you, she'd much rather there not be a fight in the first place or to simple sit it out, but there it is.
With all this being said, Maya probably puts off an air of being unapproachable. She's polite, yes, but she is not the sort to share details about herself. For that matter, she doesn't freely share what she knows and tends to keep her observations to herself until she deems it necessary to share information. She isn't afraid to take action that she deems necessary either and, while she'll be mindful of the consequences, once she makes a decision to do something good luck trying to talk her out of it.

Current World: Radiant Garden
History: Maya was born in East Heaven Kingdom, to the younger sister of Mint. From day one it was evident that Mint would someday become the queen, however as the years passed it became obvious that Mint would probably not be the best choice for queen. She was sour tempered, brash, ill mannered , and selfish.
As a result, when Maya turned twelve, it was decided that Mint would be removed as heir, making Maya the heir to the throne. It was a move that surprised Maya, however it was primarily at the insistence of one of her father's advisers, Doll Master, that led to the decision of Mint being removed as heir. Mint challenged Maya to a duel of magic, however with the aid of her relic, the Book of Cosmos, Maya was able to defeat Mint.
Mint left and for two years there was peace. During that time, Maya grew into her future role as queen with the aid of her trusted adviser, a man by the name of Doll Master. Unbeknownst to her, Doll Master had anything but her interests or the kingdom's interests at heart, but that wasn't known until her sister Mint resurfaced in a small fishing town named Corona.
It was Mint's goal to find a relic that would be able to give her what she wanted; her kingdom back. This in itself wouldn't have been a problem, except for the fact that Mint had set her sights on a very dangerous relic; Dewprism, a relic made by the most powerful aeon (another work for magician) by the name of Valen. It was East Heaven Kingdom's duty to ensure that the relic remained hidden and Maya reminded Mint of said duty when she stopped her sister's initial attempt to reach the relic and take her prisoner in the process.
She captured her sister at what was simply known as the lake ruins, which was actually the place where Valen's relic could be unsealed. Maya took it upon herself to fortify the ruins by erecting a fortress with the use of her relic.
Doll Master suggested at this point that Princess Maya should claim the relic as her own, to keep it safe but, young as she was, Maya declined, her reasoning that ultimate power ultimately corrupts. It was their duty to ensure that something so powerful didn't come back into the world.
A day after Mint was captured, Maya was betrayed by Doll Master and his minions and imprisoned. The sleepy town of Corona was attacked in her name, though it wasn't an attack that Maya ordered. Fortunately for her, Mint escaped her own cell and was able to defeat one of Doll Master's minions who was posing as Maya.
Once Maya was freed, it was revealed that Doll Master was simply using East Heaven Kingdom to find and unleash the relic. For the first time in her life, Maya had to sit back and watch her older sister do something responsible for once. Doll Master unleashed Valen's Fortress to hunt the Dewprism and Mint and her allies followed.
In the end, Maya followed her sister and aided her in the final battle against Valen himself, the creator of the Dewprism. The sisters combined their abilities and, together, defeated one of the most powerful beings of their world.
After the final battle, the Fortress started to fall apart and the sister's fled for their lives. They were attacked by monsters but, together, they protected each other. In the end, Mint had used too much of her strength in the final fight and couldn't move any more. Instead of leaving her sister behind, Maya used the Book of Cosmos to teleport both she and her sister out of the destructing fortress (something that took a lot of power for the book to do).
It took Mint a long time to recover but once she did, she was back out, hunting for a relic and Maya returned home as well, a little bit wiser from her own little journey.
It was a year later when it all fell apart. A strange darkness invaded the land. All of the great kingdoms sought to rally against the darkness but one after another fell until only East Heaven Kingdom remained. In the time Maya did everything she could to keep her people safe, going out to battle the darkness herself with the aid of the Book of Cosmos, but even that wasn't enough to hold back the darkness. Mint didn't reappear like she normally would in such a situation...and that alone was terrifying to Maya, since Mint had an indomitable spirit. Still, Maya proved herself to be just as resliant, doing everything in her power to try to save her world.
In the end, only Maya remained but when the darkness sought to take her, the Book of Cosmos took her away from the fading world. The Book of Cosmos was aptly named by its creature, as it is known as 'The Gateway to the Cosmos'. It was this aspect of its nature, and Maya's strong heart, that allowed it to safely deposit her at Radiant Garden.
